1. Do I need previous trekking experience?

This trek is challenging and recommended for trekkers with good fitness and prior high-altitude trekking experience. Daily trekking ranges from 5–9 hours with steep terrain, glacier crossings, and high passes.

2. What is the maximum altitude of this trek?

The highest point is Gondogoro La Pass (5,585 m).
K2 Basecamp is 5,150 m, and Concordia is 4,600 m.

3. How difficult is Gondogoro La crossing?

It is a technical high pass requiring early start (usually midnight–2 AM). Crampons, ropes, and safety equipment are provided by the support team. A good fitness level and confidence on icy terrain are required.

4. Is there a weight restriction for personal luggage?

Yes.
Each participant is allowed 15 kg of personal trekking luggage (carried by porters).
Your daypack is carried by you and is not included in the 15 kg limit.

5. What is the accommodation like?

• Islamabad & Skardu: Hotel (twin sharing)

• During the trek: Camping (tents, sleeping pad, dining tent, kitchen tent provided)

6. Is there electricity or charging available?

Electricity is limited during the trek. Power banks are highly recommended.
No guaranteed charging points in campsites.

7. Is there mobile signal or internet?

There is no mobile network on most days.
A satellite phone is carried for emergency communication.
At Concordia, limited Wi-Fi or calling services may be available (confirm seasonally).

8. What permits do I need?

All permits are handled for you, including:

• CKNP (Central Karakoram National Park) Permit

• Gilgit-Baltistan Adventure Permit

• Gondogoro La crossing permit

9. What kind of meals are served?

Three meals a day during the trek, prepared by the cook team:

Yes. Mandatory.

• High-altitude trekking (up to 5,600 m)

11. What is the best season for the K2 Basecamp trek?

The recommended season is June to August, when:

• Weather is stable

• Snow levels on Gondogoro La are manageable

• Campsites and trails are fully accessible

12. How cold does it get?

Temperatures can drop to:

• –10°C to –15°C at Concordia

• –20°C or lower at Gondogoro La (early morning)
  A warm sleeping bag and layered clothing are essential.

13. Is tipping expected?

Yes. Tips for guides, porters, and staff are not included and are customary in Pakistan.

14. What happens if Gondogoro La is closed due to weather?

Safety is the priority. If the pass is unsafe, the group will return via the same route from Concordia. The itinerary may adjust depending on conditions.
